What is the Dead Internet Theory?
Tags: Internet, Dead, Fake Influencers, AI, Artificial Intelligence

Have you observed a rise in fake AI Influencers these days? Sometimes you might be able to know if they are AI generated and sometimes you may have even followed and shared them without knowing about the same. Imagine a time when only AI Influencers are there and humans are just at the other end of receiving content. Content generation is in total control of AI. All Interactions online are fake.

This is the Dead Internet Theory.

1. Where had Dead Internet Theory come from?

Well, to be honest, the dead internet theory is not just a theory anymore; it is a phenomenon that is spreading across the World Wide Web.

Most of the content these days has already started to be AI-generated. Several brands around the world have already automated the content creation part, and many are working towards interacting with humans.

The time has come when we can't differentiate between a real human and an AI or a simple chatbot.

The concern, according to the dead internet theory, is that human interactions will go for a toss, and we all will be fed by these AI or Dead Influencers. The content will be what makes money for the people in power, and most of this includes propaganda.

This propaganda can be anything to influence our thought process or to influence the decision-making for elections.

2. How can we be safe from the dead internet phenomenon?

The only way to be safe from the dead internet phenomenon is to be part of communities that don't entertain bots.

Like the Blue Hat World. This is because when we are part of online forums where real humans are, we can have meaningful discussions and reach a conclusion.

On the other hand, if we are just interacting with AI, most of the time we are just wasting our time and beating around the bush, because the algorithm doesn't care about the emotions. Emotions are characteristics of humans.

Social Media Websites like Facebook, Instagram, or even LinkedIn have become infested with bots.

It's just 3 or 4 years since AI became a thing, and many of the videos and images are AI-generated these days. People have even created something like "Shrimp Jesus". I mean, AI is doing all sorts of things, and people are just fine with it.

We humans are getting fed with AI-generated content, and we are fine with it. People are not interacting with each other. They are not sharing their insights, opinions, and advice, but they are just approving their mindset based on what fake influencers have created.

I have seen several elderly people and even people of my age not being able to understand the difference between AI-generated and original or human-generated content, and they share it as medical advice, etc.

The only way to stay away from these issues is by taking your stance. As someone has rightly said;

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.

And this is exactly true for the dead internet phenomenon. Choose your platforms carefully. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn are all just approving a person's mindset and sharing propaganda.

You will have to join communities that have real humans and not just bots sitting there to feed on your data and share biased information.

If you agree, join this community today and be part of something that is more human and not like Dead Internet. Be part of something that will criticise you and give you feedback. That will allow you to share opinions that people around the world will genuinely love to read and appreciate.
