I am creating this thread to keep a record of the work that I have been doing to make my Home Office Setup better and over time I will also try to add changes that I have been doing to make it better.
Recently, I observed that I have started getting neck pain and back pain as I usually sit on my bed to work and most of my work is online using my laptop.
This was when I realized I needed a home office setup or it might become a nightmare. I was not able to focus on my work and every day was just another day where I used to drag my desk near to my bed and then set up my laptops.
I didn't have a back support and I had to lean forward to my laptop to type anything, and this was causing so much pain in my back and neck.
So, finally, I thought of upgrading my home office setup. This was done by first ordering a chair that would be simple yet comfortable. Simple office-type chair and not that fancy.
While buying the chair, I also ordered a keyboard and a mouse.
This I did because I usually write a lot and I have to code for long hours as well, and working on my laptop is not that easy because then I have to look down upon the screen which usually causes neck pain.
I used my old dining table which was made up of rubber wood if I am not wrong and that was 4 seater, so it was quite enough for my setup. I kept the desk adjacent to my wall, which made it look beautiful as well.
I had a table mat that was the same color as my table, so I arranged it on my table. A table mat is a must because it helps ensure that we have a proper place to keep our keyboard and mouse.
I bought my keyboard and mouse in a combo and it cost me very less not more than $12 from Zebtronics, and this is a gaming keyboard and mouse which has RGB lights. This makes my setup a bit classy and I also like to type on the keyboard.
This is one of the most important things in any home office setup, which helps in arranging wires and connections easily. But I have ensured that I keep all the wires and extensions behind the screen of my laptop adjacent to the wall, because of which there is no visible clutter as such.
Although it is not set up in one of the best ways, still it does its job and I can create some space on my table for all other things.
Always try to keep your office setup classy, which encourages you to work hard, and I have kept a black bottle for myself which I refill when gets empty. It is not that big, so I have to go to the kitchen to fill it, which is fine because it gives me an excuse to stand up and walk, which was not happening before because I just wanted to complete work without any rest.
Nothing can beat a coffee mug while you are working.
Coffee breaks are great and help you relax and focus better on your work when you get back. I like a cup of Cafe Late now and then while working as this helps me focus on my task, and if you are more health conscious, you can keep a juice glass on your table.
Just ensure that don't keep plastics, and only keep good quality glass materials or ceramic mugs. The more luxury you keep, the more focused you will be on your work.
There are several future upgrades that I want to do. For example;
Having an extra monitor helps ensure that our head is always straight-looking and not looking down or sideways which again reduces the chances of neck or back pain.
I would prefer to have a curved screen because that looks classy although those are expensive and might require me to save a bit before buying. Flat monitors are also good. If I have a big screen or flat monitor then I will go for it, but if I get a better-looking curved screen then I might opt for the curved screen as it will make my desk look better.
Mobile stands are great. That ensures that you can see your notifications whenever they come and also you are not distracted because you keep on working on your laptop and don't need time to pick and check what the notification is about.
Currently, I don't have one and I am planning to buy one for my mobile phone. This will also make it easy for me to charge my phones because then I can fix the charging cables in the mobile stand itself.
Table lamps are essential, especially if you have a small baby that needs constant attention. I can let my baby sleep in a dark room and still get my work done by using a table lamp.
Currently, I am using an emergency light on low brightness, which is sufficiently helpful, but I am thinking of one table lamp that looks a bit retro and has a metal base (stainless steel is better).
I have seen one at Ikea and might consider that after some time.
These were some of the things that I have done and what I am planning to do t make my home office setup look better. I will be sharing other information about the same as and when there is some update.
